What is OrthoPelvic Physical Therapy and is it right for me?
Orthopelvic Physical Therapy combines orthopedic and pelvic floor specialties to address a wide range of musculoskeletal and pelvic issues. Orthopedic care focuses on conditions like neck, back, shoulder, and knee pain, while pelvic floor therapy targets issues such as urinary or fecal leakage, pain during intercourse, and prolapse. By addressing both areas, this approach acknowledges the interconnected nature of the body's kinetic chain.
Often, symptoms in one area, like the knee or back, may stem from underlying pelvic floor dysfunction, or vice versa. Orthopelvic Physical Therapy works to identify these root causes, ensuring comprehensive care that treats both the source and the symptoms for better overall outcomes.

Switching to an Out-Of-Network practice enables us to provide quality care without insurance companies dictating treatment progressions. It also enables us to provide 90 min evaluations and 60 minute one-on-one treatment sessions with each patient. This leads to fewer visits while achieving results quickly and more efficiently.
Since we are able to see patients one-on-one, we typically require fewer treatment sessions than traditional physical therapy clinics. This, combined with fewer physician appointments and prevention of the need for surgery, inevitably cuts cost for the patients.
We also provide extensive education on your diagnosis, answer all of your questions, and establish a progressive home/gym exercise program so that you can take control of your treatment!

What is OrthoPelvic Physical Therapy and is it right for me?
No. The state of Tennessee allows individuals to receive up to 90 days of physical therapy without a referral or signed “plan of care.” We can treat for beyond a month duration if we receive a referral or signed “plan of care”. No referral is needed to begin treatment. Upon examination, if it is determined that you need to see a physician for further testing, you will be recommended to do so prior to having treatment.

Evaluations are non-refundable. The policy is 36 hours for regular visits ($100 late cancellation or rescheduling fee). Same day cancellations are the full cost of the session. This allows us time to fill our schedule with other patients and plan accordingly. As a small business, thank you for your understanding!

Every patient will receive a comprehensive, full-body assessment to identify the underlying cause(s) of their pain and symptoms. For those undergoing pelvic floor therapy, this includes an external and internal pelvic exam, conducted with consent.
Based on the findings from your evaluation, we'll create a tailored treatment plan to address the root cause of your concerns and guide you toward recovery, with personalized packages and flexible payment options available.
Every patient is taught how to treat themselves at home by using a progressive home exercise program. You will receive a personalized treatment program for treatment and long term prevention of your condition so you can stay healthy, active and free of pain.

We are considered an Out-Of-Network practice. What that means is that we do not submit insurance on your behalf but we do provide a coded superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. How long will I need treatment?
Most people experience a significant decrease in pain/symptoms within 3 to 5 treatments. It is impossible to predict the exact number of visits you will need as everyone's individual challenges are unique.
However, the typical patient is seen on average once a week for the first 4 weeks, then once every other week and then once per month. The average amount of visits is 8-12 visits spanning 3-6 months.
We try to be as transparent as possible with our patients. The symptoms you’re experiencing have taken time to develop and many have experienced them for months and years. In knowing this, recovery will take at least 3-6 months to address the real reason for your pain and symptoms. But once the your goals have been achieved, you should not have to see us again for the same issue!

We are a cash based physical therapy group. This means we can provide a coded super bill but do not submit to insurance on your behalf. We believe in this model firmly because this allows us to do what we love--treat you, the patient! Because we do not have to cater to insurance, we can treat you for the amount of visits that are necessary and our pricing is transparent.
Initial evaluations are 90 minutes and cost $195. We accept HSA, FSA and all forms of payment. At the end of the evaluation, you will know what is causing your pain and we’ll develop a plan of care on how to achieve your goals!
We develop customized packages per patient based on how many sessions are needed. If you would like to discuss pricing further, please text or call us at 865-233-3533 for a free phone consult with Dr. Katie. She will answer all of your questions and help determine if orthopelvic PT is right for you.

When do you recommend I start physical therapy?
How long will I need treatment?
TODAY! It is never too late to start, whether you’ve been dealing with your symptoms for a few months or for 20+ years! There is always hope! Surgery can always be done, but it can never be undone. Seek out another opinion to see if you can avoid surgery and medication altogether! In our experience, many surgeries can be prevented and avoided as long as the underlying problems are addressed. We would love to see you!
Don't wait until you’re pregnant or postpartum to get seen. Physical Therapy is great during pregnancy to help with labor, delivery, and recovery. Also, physical therapy is super beneficial BEFORE conception to determine any underlying dysfunctions or issues to make for a smooth pregnancy and delivery! We can see you as early as 2 weeks postpartum, but a pelvic exam will not be conducted until 6 weeks or clearance is obtained from your provider.

When do you recommend I start physical therapy?
Do you provide exercises to be performed at home?
How long will I need treatment?
Yes! Each program is tailored to YOU! Our system, PT Everywhere, allows us to provide video education and handouts. If we give you an exercise to perform at home, we will also give you that same exercise in a video. We have found that this is extremely helpful in remembering how to do the exercise we discussed in the session!
What we typically tell our patients is that 90% of recovery happens at home. Without dedication to the home exercise program, it can be difficult for full recovery. We make sure that the exercise program fits your busy lifestyle and schedule so that you can have success and reach your goals no matter what stage of life you’re in!

What if I’m nervous for an internal pelvic exam?
How long will I need treatment?
It is totally normal to feel nervous before an exam. We explain the pelvic exam in detail during the initial evaluation. We have a pelvic model where we discuss what both the external and internal exam will consist of and we allow our patients to ask any and all questions.
Most importantly we discuss that consent is fluid, meaning that even if you consent to the pelvic exam at the time of the evaluation, you can revoke that at any time. There is never any pressure to continue the examination and oftentimes can be more harmful than helpful if you’re not comfortable with continuing. Our goal is to be a safe place for every patient. We can still achieve your goals with or without a pelvic exam!
