Being "cleared" at 6 weeks isn't the same as being healed

A 6-week check-up tells you the medical risks are behind you. It doesn't tell you how your pelvic floor, core, and breath are actually working together — or whether your body is ready for running, lifting, intimacy, or another pregnancy.

At Amplify Physio, we pick up where the 6-week visit leaves off — and we work with you well before delivery too. Full-hour sessions. Hands-on care. Push therapy and birth prep. And a real plan for getting back to your life.

"She helped me with a long-term issue I did not think was fixable. It was! Bonus: I no longer wake multiple times during the night to use the restroom. Her nature is welcoming, authentic, and puts you right at ease."

"I've been experiencing pain for over a decade — I thought I would have to live with it my whole life. After just a few sessions my pain level was cut in half if not more. 10/10."

"After two surgeries I could barely walk and my traditional PT wasn't helping. "Hip pain, back pain, and sciatica. I'd exhausted every avenue — years of PT, chiropractic, an injection — and an orthopedic surgeon recommended surgery. Dr. Katie's approach was very different. I'm hiking again, back at the gym, working in my flower gardens, doing all the things I love. She helped me get my life back."

The Whole-Body Connection

The whole-body connection

Back, hip, and SI pain often has a hidden source

Postpartum isn't just a pelvic floor story

Your pelvic floor, core, breath, hips, and back all work as one system — which is why birth and recovery affect so many places at once. Low back pain, hip pain, leaking, and core weakness often share the same root cause, and they get better together when we treat the system as a whole.

Common questions

common questions

What people ask about pregnancy & postpartum PT

What people ask about pregnancy & postpartum PT

No. Postpartum doesn't have a deadline. If something hasn't felt right since your baby was born — even if your baby is now 10 — we can still help. Many of our patients come in years out and see real changes.

I'm months or years postpartum — is it too late?

Yes. C-section recovery is one of our specialties. We work with scar tissue mobility, abdominal reconnection, breathing patterns that were disrupted by surgery, and the safe return to lifting, workouts, and daily life.

I had a C-section — can you still help?

You can start as early as a few weeks postpartum with gentle, appropriate care. Most patients begin around 6 weeks once they've been cleared, but there's no upper limit — we work with postpartum bodies months or even years after birth.

When can I start PT after having a baby?

Yes. We tailor every session to where you are and what your body is doing, using the evidence-based approach recommended by OBs, midwives, and pregnancy specialists. If you're high-risk or have specific restrictions, just let us know — we'll work within them.

Is pelvic floor PT safe during pregnancy?

Honestly, any time. The first trimester is great for setting a foundation. The second is ideal for staying ahead of pelvic, hip, or back pain. The third is when most women come in for birth prep and push therapy. If you're further along and reading this, it's not too late.

When in pregnancy should I start?

No. Tennessee is a direct-access state, so you can book without a referral. If you'd like us to coordinate with your OB or midwife, we're happy to — but it's not required.

When in pregnancy should I start?

Most PT is 20–30 minutes focused on where it hurts. We take 90 minutes for your first visit, assess how your whole body moves, and help you build real strength — not just stretch you out or hand you a theraband. That’s usually the difference between temporary relief and lasting results.
